Joshua Strauss, M.S., CCC-SLP
Speech-language pathologist providing in-home and in-community services to the greater Tucson area, and telepractice services throughout the state of Arizona.
Hi,
My name is Joshua Strauss. I’m a speech-language pathologist practicing out of my hometown of Tucson, Arizona. Since obtaining my Master’s degree in 2009, my career has been dedicated to helping adults improve their communication and cognitive skills. I currently offer in-home, online, and in-community therapy through my private practice.
I recognize that every client I work with is unique, and my therapy reflects that. My small caseload allows me to develop tailored treatment plans that focus on functional, real-world application of the skills we’re working on.
It’s just me here, so if you have any questions about scheduling, billing, or the services I provide, feel free to contact me by phone/text at (520) 222-6476, by email at josh@westernskyslp.com, or through this contact form linked on the button below.

Click on a term to learn a little bit more about some of the areas I find myself well-suited to working in. It would be foolish to say I’ve seen everything, but after 15 years of acute care, rehab, and outpatient therapy I can say with confidence that I’ve seen a lot.
If you aren’t sure whether we would be a good match, you’re welcome to contact me and we can discuss what you’re experiencing and whether I might be able to help. If not, that’s cool—I might be able to refer you to somebody who can.

Aphasia is a language disorder that can affect a person’s ability to communicate. People with aphasia frequently have trouble “finding” the right word(s), despite knowing what they want to communicate. Aphasia can affect a person’s ability to speak or understand others, as well as their ability to read and/or write.
-
A difficulty with the clarity of one’s speech, often the result of an injury to or weakness of the structures we use to speak. A person with dysarthria may have difficulty pronouncing sounds correctly, speaking at a normal volume, or controlling the speed and rhythm of their speech.

Our voice is what makes us sound like us. Voice can be affected by several factors—Sometimes due to injury or weakness, sometimes to misuse or overuse.

Skills like memory, attention, problem-solving, sequencing, planning (and following through with those plans!) all fall under this broader term, and play a significant role in our ability to perform tasks.
Fees: Evaluation and treatment sessions are available at a rate of $150 per hour of contact time.
